Our team of dedicated Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) teachers are all qualified to either Level 5 or Level 7 in SpLD and oversee the SpLD provision across all phases and Blossom House sites. They are all trained in the Unicorn Maths Course, accredited by OCN at Level 2, equipping them to teach maths to pupils with dyslexia and/or dyscalculia. They are able to provide small group, paired or 1:1 intervention on a needs basis for Literacy and Maths across the school.
Many of our pupils are considered to have an SpLD presentation. The teaching styles, methods and resources we implement across lessons benefit all of our pupils, regardless of whether or not they have a formal diagnosis of SpLD. A high number of our Literacy/English teachers, have been trained to OCR/BDA Level 5, and some to Diploma Level 7. Additionally, all staff receive in-house training around awareness of dyslexia, and strategies to support pupils with these types of difficulties.
